Trierer Roboterbibel

Calligraphed Bible in 6 volumes
2013

Trierer Roboterbible (2013)

The “Trier Robot Bible” is the first Bible in the world that has been written by a robot and bound afterwards. It was calligraphed by an industrial robot in nine months of uninterrupted writing as part of an exhibition of the “bios [bible]” installation in front of Trier Cathedral in 2011/12.

Trierer Roboterbible (2013) It consists of six hand-bound volumes, each measuring 63 cm x 38 cm. The software code of the writing process, both the control program and the robot programs with the coordinates of the calligraphic alphabet created by robotlab, is printed as a fine texture on the binding cloth.

At the beginning of each volume there are forewords by the Bishop of Trier, Stephan Ackermann, the Trier Bible researcher Prof. Reinhold Bohlen and robotlab. The Trier Robot Bible belongs to the Diocesan Archive Trier and is kept in the collection of the Museum am Dom Trier.
