Robots Creating Sound by Means of Records

juke_bots is an installation, in which two robot arms act like a DJ. Each machine is circularly surrounded by
records
which it can select and pick up. In
front of each arm a record player is positioned so that the robot can
thread the records under its needle.Without putting down the record on the turntable the robot can play and scratch it, both forward and reverse, speed up or slow down the music, and thus generate new sounds with own characteristics.
The 'juke_bots' can be displayed either as an autonomous performance or as an 'interactive' installation. In this version the audience can start the robots either by motion sensor or by throwing coins in the slot of the interface.
